A BAROQUE CELEBRATION / THE TOWN AND CHATEAU OF HORAŽĎOVICE
Amusing Baroque entertainment at various places in town. Many genres of music, dance and theatre

Horažďovice – a picturesque town on the left bank of the gold-bearing Otava River that used to be the market settlement of Gorazdějovice with a strategic position on the trading route from Bavaria to Prague. A Gothic citadel was built here in the 13th century and then rebuilt into a Rennaissance chateau. Today's look of the chateau is Baroque and only the courtyard and the tower have remained from the original Rennaissance building.
Current historical monuments of the town include the St Peter and Paul's Church from the 13th century, the Red Gate from 1252 (which is the oldest preserved gate in Bohemia), the graveyard Church of St John the Baptist and a meat shop on Hradební Street. Not far from Horažďovice, you can find a former spa; a medicinal spring flows out here under the St Anne's Chapel. The integral part of cultural life of the town is the amateur theatre company Tyjátr which will celebrate its 170th anniversary this year.

PROGRAMME
The Baroque Celebration in Horažďovice will present a broad range of Baroque culture – from entertainment to theatre and classical music. It will offer a peak into the Baroque era as a period of flamboyance, pomposity and a certain bizarreness but also of a deep beauty.
Visitors can look forward to:

Musica ad Gaudium – a concert of an ensemble interpreting Baroque music (singing, flutes, harpsichord, bassoon) at the St Peter and Paul's Church on the square.

The lively Baroque chateau – a chance to see the interiors of the chateau, take a picture in the period photo booth, dance in the unique Baroque hall, and watch a short puppet show in the newly-opened space on the marionette stage.

Amusement on the fortification – amusing attractions, a stall by Mlsná BAROKOza with seats.
Baroque on the body – an unusual combination of Baroque music, dance and projections.
