Loretan Chapel / Bor u Tachova
After Loreta in Týnec, we are presenting another santa casa in the territory of the Pilsen Region, this time in the village of Bor u Tachova. The Loretan Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Bor was founded in the second half of the 17th century, where another, even older chapel of the Virgin Mary stood. Interest in pilgrim journeys to the statue of the Black Madonna of Bor gradually declined, until the chapel was put in the records as deserted in the early 19th century. Thanks to a local priest, it saw a restoration in the 1870s and the pilgrim journeys started again. Towards the end of World War II, the Loretan Chapel was damaged by the gunfire of advancing U.S. military troops and there was no interest in restoring it during the following decades of the communist regime.Pilgrim journeys started again in 1991 and there are efforts now to have the chapel repaired step-by-step.
PROGRAMME
The Loretan Chapel will be open to visitors from 2pm. At 5pm, 6pm and 7pm, mandolinist Petr Vrobel will perform short Baroque music recitals in the chapel.
