...experience Baroque with all your senses...
The festival of Baroque monuments, landscape and culture of the Pilsen Region
29 June – 30 August 2015
BAROQUE CELEBRATION / CHOTĚŠOV MONASTERY
17 July | Friday 6:00pm – 10:00pm
The Chotěšov Monastery invites you to the Baroque Celebration with a unique Carillon chime, a concert by Gabriela Demeterová, Baroque fireworks and observation of the night sky.
The Chotěšov Monastery is situated around 20 kms from Pilsen in the direction of Domažlice. It is hidden from travellers passing along this road by a barrier of farm buildings and is frequently missed. It is only on the route to Dobřany that the structure appears in its spectacular Baroque beauty. Although it no longer had the ruined monastery church, its panorama is rich and promises the same experience at its visit. It offers a quiet rest in the monastery park to enjoy the present harmony. During a visit of the convent building, it is possible to enter several halls with Baroque works by the painter František Julius Lux. His paintings opened the sky also above the monumental staircase and built up an illusive space for the continuation of a path of life alongside angels. In the opposite direction, there are also several floors hiding beneath ground level. An interesting underground can also be found in the provostry under the Renaissance building with two-storey Gothic cellars from the 14th century. During the Baroque encounter, the Chotěšov Monastery will demonstrate its beauty and will allow you to experience serenity in spaces devoted to peace, music and meditation.
